We are proud to announce that Kevin Grant's Ataraxia Chardonnay 2007 has been awarded the Chardonnay Trophy at the 2008 Tri-Nations Wine Competition held in Sydney at the end of November.
In the face of competition from the likes of labels such as Leeuwin Estate, Cullen, Vasse Felix from Australia and Kumeu River, Cloudy Bay, Neudorf, Villa Maria and Craggy Range from New Zealand, this was a real coup not only for Ataraxia but for South Africa.
This prestigious annual competition, fiercely contested between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa receives much exposure in the local and international press. As entry into the competition is by invitation only, these awards are highly sought after by wine producers from these three nations. This year, thirteen wine classes were contested, one of which was the Chardonnay category. 10 Australian, 11 New Zealand and 11 South African Chardonnays were invited to enter this category and Kevin's Ataraxia Chardonnay 2007 came out tops!
"It was great not only to have been awarded another extremely high accolade for this wine, but also to have had the opportunity of representing South Africa in this year's competition - the closest I will probably ever get to wear the Green and Gold!" says Kevin.
