The 2013 lineup of rare and exclusive wines to go under the hammer at the Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction at the Spier Conference Centre in Stellenbosch on Saturday, 5 October, has received outstanding ratings from two leading wine commentators in New York with the vast majority breaking the venerable 90 point barrier.

Nitida Sauvignon Blanc Barrel Twenty Eight 2013100% Sauvignon Blanc Wine of Origin Durbanville

After selecting a particularly interesting block prior to harvest, the grapes were sampled regularly in order to pick at optimal ripeness. The wine was fermented in old, 300 litre barrels and matured sur lie for a further 6 weeks in the barrels prior to fining and bottling.

De Grendel Op Die Berg Pinot Noir 2011100% Pinot Noir Wine of Origin Western Cape

The fruit was picked from the Witzenberg region. Destalked, 4 days cold maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation and basket-press. Transferred into new barrels for malolactic fermentation. Transferred into second and third fill barrels for maturation, followed by filtration and bottling.
