Grangehurst Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1997
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Helderberg, Firgrove and Stellenbosch Kloof vineyards. Fermented in open kuipe, basket-pressed and matured for 22 months in new 225 litre French oak barrels. 140 cases of this wine were sold at the CWG Auction 1999. Another 10 cases from Jeremy Walker’s private collection are being offered in 2003 as part of the Vinoteque Collection. Medium-dark ruby-garnet colour. This wine has gained in complexity after 4 years of bottle maturation although the primary blackcurrants and violets aromas and flavours are still evident. The fruit, wood and tannin are well integrated – this wine is now ready for drinking, although it could probaby be kept for another 3 to 4 years.
