Cape Winemakers Guild

Groot Constantia CWG Gouverneurs Reserve 2018

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc

The grapes were picked at 24 – 25°Balling, destemmed upon arrival at the cellar and immediately inoculated with selected yeast. During fermentation, the wine was punched-down four times a day in open fermenters. The wine was pressed off the skins after fermentation, and malolactic fermentation was done in barrel and aged for 15 months in 75% new and 25% 2nd and 3rd fill 225 litre French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: The wine shows richness with blueberry and blackberry aromas, a hint of floral perfume and subtle cedarwood flavours. The palate is powerful, and fine tannins promise good ageing potential.
