Hartenberg Gravel Hill Shiraz 2002

The Gravel Hill is from a vineyard site which reflects the unique position it occupies on Hartenberg Estate. It is made up of pure gravel stone on a lower slope of the property. This terroir consistently produces a wine unique in character, quality and expression. The wine spent 16 months in 100% small, 225 litre French oak, of which 60% was new, the balance being 2nd fill. 50 cases of this wine were sold at the 2004 Auction. Tasting Note: Black, deep centered colour. Perfumed violet and vanilla oak mixed with pepper and spices on the bouquet. Mouthfeel shows clean primary fruit with succulent, elegant mid palate and a refined finish.
