Cape Winemakers Guild

Hartenberg Gravel Hill Shiraz 2003

This vintage of Gravel Hill is the sixth to be offered at the CWG Auction. The wine originates from a unique site on the lower slopes of the Estate and we have found this terroir consistently produces a wine of unique character, quality and expression. 100% new French oak was used for maturation and the wine spent 16 months in wood. Tasting Note: Deep black-red colour. Outspoken black fruit with violets, perfume, cloves, smokiness and black pepper on the bouquet. The palate shows ripe fruit, spicy oak, elegance, fine dry tannins and a long savoury finish. Drink 2007 to 2013.
