The Drift Mountain Farm “The Heartbreak Grape” Pinot Noir 2013

Born of a tiny vineyard – perilously planted on the steep, cool, windswept slopes of our farm in the Overberg Highlands. Pinot transcends the obvious and can astound you with the volume of energy it encompasses; like the unexpected weight of a guitar. A stealthy heartbreaker, Pinot is unconcerned by the rules of love everyone else in the Grape Kingdom survives by. Seduction is fleeting. Its embrace unexpected, arriving half way into a bottle. But then it’s dramatic, unyielding and inspiring. Tasting Notes: Each Dijon selection in this tiny vineyard dreams up broodingly beautiful flavours from this granite-rich, ancient mountain soil. Aromas are the soundtrack of seasons, tannin the quietly determined marching melody. It’s a breath-taking view and a wildfire survivor. It’s a winemaker’s obsession. Above all, it’s the soul of a remarkable farm.
