Karabelo Masoleng

Second Year Protégé

Karabelo Masoleng is from Bredasdorp, Western Cape and has a degree in Agriculture and Cellar Technology from Elsenburg Agricultural College.

She spent her first year of the Protégé Programme being mentored by Abrie Beeslaar at Kanonkop, and is excited to move on to De Grendel Wine Estate where she will be mentored by Charles Hopkins.

According to Karabelo, she finds winemaking an exciting and rewarding career. It’s both an art and a science, and she enjoys the challenge of creating a product that people love from raw materials like grapes. She wants to work for a company with a family atmosphere, where she can go to work each day excited about what she does and be able to enjoy working with people she likes.

Karabelo has experience managing people and working in different industries, including fashion and the alcohol industry. With this experience, she hopes to start a clothing line for women in the winemaking industry. She believes that women in the industry should have options for looking good while working, without having to sacrifice comfort or practicality.
