He was then promoted to cellar master in 2012 until April 2019, when he joins Warwick as Cellar master. He has received numerous awards including, Dinersclub Young Winemaker of the Year 2014, Platter five stars, Old Mutual Trophies and Veritas Double Golds.
Two Stellenbosch Chardonnay vineyards are used in the production of this beautiful Chardonnay, one on the Simonsberg and one on the Helderberg. Grapes are hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed to extract the juice as gently as possible. The juice is then settled overnight and racked to barrel. Natural fermentation in 228 litre French oak barrels. 33% new, 33% second fill and 34% third fill. After fermentation, the wine was aged a further nine months before filtration and bottling.
Tasting Notes: Green and gold in colour, aromas of stone fruit, citrus, roasted nuts and baked apple. The palate is rich and broad with citrus and apple, rich and lingering with a wonderful persistent aftertaste.
Ready for drinking now, through to 2025.
