He began his career as an assistant winemaker in Stellenbosch before venturing on five years of travel to France, Germany and England to develop his international palate, skills and style. He widened his experience with new world wines in New Zealand and continues to harness his experiences to create elegant South African wines from the unique Delaire Graff terroir and from fruit meticulously sourced from selected vineyards.

Wine of Origin Banghoek – Stellenbosch
From 16-year virus-free vineyards on Delaire Graff Estate. Cool and slow whole berry fermentation with limited punch downs. Four weeks post-ferment maturation on skins before being basket pressed. Matured in 40% new French 225 litre barrels for 16 months and a further 45 months in bottle.
Tasting Notes: Bright red fruit with subtle oak spice and violets. Firm but delicate tannin structure with crisp fresh red fruit finish.
Ready for drinking now and until 2030.
Wine of Origin Banghoek Stellenbosch
One lot only – 3 bottles (3 x 1.5L) of Delaire Graff Estate Banghoek Chardonnay 2016.
Select parcel of Chardonnay from Delaire vineyards. Grapes were handpicked and whole bunch pressed. Fermented in second fill French oak for two weeks. Wine left on lees for 11 months, with no battonage or malolactic fermentation. This is an extremely limited offer – only 6 magnums made in total production.
Tasting Notes: An expressive bouquet of smoky fl oral and citrus notes on the nose. On the palate, almonds, pears and tropical fruit are supported by a crisp acidity and fruit freshness.
Drink now until 2023.

A selected parcel from the Delaire vineyards. Whole berry fermented for two weeks and kept on skins for further six weeks. Malolactic fermentation in barrel and aged for 18 months. Bottle matured for two years.
Tasting Notes: Velvet textured, complex and powerful. Cassis, bright dark fruit and spicy flavours dominate in a layered and lingering finish.
