Cederberg Black Slate Shiraz 2023
100% Shiraz
Wine of Origin Cederberg
Planted high in the remote Cederberg mountains, this pocket of Shiraz vineyard is a testament to pure terroir expression. Rooted in black slate rocky soils, the site imparts pronounced minerality, firm structure, and a harmonious ripening profile. Crafted exclusively for the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction, this Guild debut was produced in small batches with open-top fermentation and matured for 15 months in fine French oak. The result is a cool-climate Shiraz balancing bold intensity with refined elegance.
Tasting Notes: The bouquet unveils delicate dark cherry and ripe berry aromas, intertwined with nuances of black olive tapenade and subtle violet. On the palate, the wine is savoury and polished, framed by powdery tannins and a silky, lingering finish.
Ready for drinking in 4 to 10 years.
