Dewaldt Heyns Family Wines CWG Shiraz Reserve 2021

100% Shiraz
Wine of Origin Tulbagh

  • This single-barrel CWG Shiraz Reserve is made from block 27, Saronsberg’s most prestigious vineyard, rooted in sandstone soils with a high gravel content.
  • At an elevation of 275 metres on a gentle eastern-facing slope, with constant air movement and the afternoon shadow of the Saronsberg, this area is markedly cooler than the valley basin below.
  • The vines that grow here evoke all the characteristics of this unique origin, producing slow-ripening grapes with elegant fruit and violet floral notes, and delicate hints of the indigenous fynbos on the slopes above.
  • Fermented in an open fermenter, using a combination of punch-downs and pump-overs for extraction, and aged in new French oak for 20 months, this wine will reward you with an exquisite drinking experience.

Tasting Notes: This single-barrel selection exhibits a compote of rich dark fruit, subtle red berry notes and a seductive blend of violets and spice, followed by a firm, ripe tannin structure.

Ready for drinking in 2030.
