Grangehurst Au Revoir 2017

64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Petit Verdot, 13% Merlot

A classic blend of three of the Bordeaux varietals – Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot – sourced from prime Stellenbosch vineyards (Simonsberg and Helderberg). Hand-picked and sorted, fermented in open tanks with the skins being punched down four to six times per day. After an average of 14 days’ skin contact, the wines were drawn off and the skins pressed using traditional wooden basket presses. Matured in French oak barrels for 25 months. HANDCRAFTED – TRADITIONAL – UNHURRIED

Tasting Notes: Dark ruby colour with a garnet edge. Aromas and flavours of black fruits, cassis, violets and cedar. A full-bodied, elegant wine with a long finish.

The final wine in my CIWG/CWG journey – from my first vintage CIWG 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot in 1996 to this CWG 2017 “Au Revoir” blend in 2021.

Ready for drinking 6 to 20 years from vintage.

This wine is packed in a wooden box.
