Grangehurst Cape Reserve Blend 2003

A Cape Blend produced from Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes that were sourced from prime Helderberg vineyards, Stellenbosch. Fermented in open kuipe with regular manual punch downs for colour, tannin and flavour extraction. The individual wines were barrel matured (mainly French, some American) separately for 20 months, then blended and matured for another 6 months in new French (Allier) oak barrels ? a total of 26 months in oak (87% French, 13% American). Tasting Note: Dark ruby colour with a slight garnet edge; sweetish red berry, plum and mocha aromas and flavours; ripe mellow tannins and a lively acidity contribute to the structure of this wine, which has a silky mouthfeel and a lingering finish. Recommended drinking 2006 ? 2010.
