Unlocking the gateway to exclusive vinous treasures
The 38th Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild (CWG) Auction, a virtual live auction spread over two days, offers a matchless opportunity to bid on some of the finest wines in the country. These wines are made exclusively for the auction by the guild’s members, a group of leading winemakers who are dedicated to their craft. This talented bunch hails from diverse appellations across the Cape winelands.
This year’s auction will see a total of 43 wines from 30 guild members on offer. These comprise 14 white wines, 26 red wines, two Cap Classiques and one Cape Tawny. A total of 513 lots will be sold over the two days – 190 lots on the Friday evening and 323 on the Saturday. All the wines will be offered on both days, with wines available in lot sizes of 12 and 24 bottles on the Friday evening and Saturday morning, but with the addition of 36-bottle lots on the Saturday.
This will run in tandem with the online-only CWG Protégé Programme Auction. The auction with a heart provides an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the wine industry by supporting a dynamic initiative that mentors the next generation of winemakers. Coveted auction lots include unique collections, rare verticals and wines that are no longer available from guild members, as well as wines made by this year’s graduating protégés.
The Nedbank CWG Auction will take place on Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October 2022 at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West. You only need to register once for this auction to bid on both days.
Please remember that you have to register separately for the Nedbank CWG Auction and the Protégé Programme Auction to bid on both. This means that even if you are an existing client, you need to register to get a bidder’s number for each auction as you will only be eligible to bid once you have one.
When you register for each auction, please give Strauss & Co permission to share your information with the CWG. This step is vital to ensure that you receive your wine correctly.
