Jordan Sophia 2018
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot
Specially made for the CWG Auction from our best hillside vineyards on Jordan Wine Estate, this wine has been named ‘Sophia’ after the legendary mother of Faith, Hope and Charity. Traditional pump-overs with extended maceration after fermentation ensures a Bordeaux-like texture. 2% Petit Verdot adds a layer of complexity to the nose. Barrel aging for 20 months in 50% new 225 litre French oak barrels has created a classic benchmark wine with an opulent structure and texture to age for many years.
Tasting Notes: Complex, dark chocolate, black cherry and cassis intertwine rich blackberry fruit, hints of vanilla and spice from the integrated French oak. Densely layered ripe tannins add to the opulent fruit.
Well-structured, this wine will reward careful cellaring for many years to come.
This wine is packed in wooden boxes.
