Christo le Riche is winemaker and director at Le Riche Wines and grew up in the Stellenbosch wine region. After studying at Stellenbosch University, he gained valuable experience working vintages at renowned international producers including Screaming Eagle, Stag’s Leap, and Château Angélus. In 2009, he became the winemaker at Le Riche and focuses on producing Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon.

Christo is passionate about Stellenbosch and its place in the South African and global wine industry. He uses Cabernet Sauvignon to tell the story of Stellenbosch and its history, soil, and climate.

In 2016, he co-founded the Stellenbosch Cabernet Collective and is currently the chairman. His wines have received numerous awards, including the Platter Guide Cabernet Sauvignon of the year in 2019 and 2023, the Global Fine Wine Challenge Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy in 2021, and high ratings from Tim Atkin.
